Textiles can be readily cut and decorated with a Co2 laser engraver or customised with a heat transfer process like sublimation.
The Co2 laser can engrave text, logo’s or images onto fabrics with a subtle effect on cotton or velour. Appliqué is a technique in which layers of fabric are cut and layered onto a base layer to create designs that would be too large or too expensive to produce by other methods. Appliqué has traditionally been used to decorate corporate wear, sports wear, caps and jackets with sports team mascots, numbers and letters.
A laser is quicker and more precise than traditional knife or die cutting and can cut multiple layers of material (as many as 10 once) and to perform intricate cuts that would be impractical with a knife.
Colour heat transfer is another popular method of decorating textiles, The MagicTouch system will transfer images onto almost any fabric or surface whilst Sublimation requires polyester to fix the dyes into.
