There are around 8 million cats and 6 million dogs in the UK and more than 6,000 go missing weekly - thankfully most are reunited due to wearing their tag.

Any visitor to a pet shop or vet surgery with a dog or cat is a potential customer for an engraved tag so why not provide a service your customers will really thank you for and make great profits for you at the same time?

Our research showed the average price for engraved pet tags is £5.45, Suregrave have a massive choice of these for less than 50p each so just 3 tags a week will finance a Suregrave engraving system, however you would expect to produce many more than this depending on the size of your shop or practice. The Mini ME is compact enough to sit on a reception desk and pre-stored templates mean you can make a pet tag whilst your customer waits.

To help you build your engraving business Suregrave supply a desk display to present chosen tags and SureLab software will keep records.

Suregrave machines are so simple to use you can expand your pet tag business into small signs, for instance beware of the dog. These are easily produced in Suregrave engraving laminate in traditional rectangular form or cut to custom shaped designs by the engraving machine.

Materials
Pet tags are either available in aluminium, brass (natural or nickel plated) and plastic.  Signs are manufactured from Suregrave exterior grade engraving laminate which is UV stable.

Machine
The right machine for you will be dictated by volume and the Wizzard 6 is ideal especially with the option to trade in the machine for its original purchase value within 12 months against a larger Suregrave machine. The bigger Wizzard 12 & Wizzard 16 offer increased speed and production.

A Co2 laser engraver is also an option for it’s ability to reproduce photographic images, detailed text and also because of its ability to engrave and cut in a single cycle.

Machine Options
To produce quality labels time and time again we utilise a depth setting device called a nose-cone and a Swarf extraction system. You can choose to mark the metal tags with a diamond or rotary cutter, out side signs wil require the rotary cutter.

Workshop equipment
Using pre-shaped pet tags and our cut to size surface means it’s unlikely you’ll need additional equipment.

Software
Surelab Lite will provide the basics for text import and engrave but engravers wanting to Scan and Vectorise logos or produce Braille signs should choose SureLab Pro. SureLab is also available in a laser output only module SureLab PhotoLaser+ which includes a host of special features for laser technology.
