Our History

The Beginning
The Company was incorporated and began trading as Enpar (North) Ltd in October 1980 supplying corrosion resistant metals and other specialist materials to industry.

Suregrave Brand Launched
The company had developed an in-depth knowledge of aluminium and the anodising process which lead in turn to a growing market supplying engravers and sign-makers. The Suregrave brand name was launched and the product range began to grow steadily.

Acquisition of Engraving Supplies Ltd
Engraving Supplies were synonymous as being the company who introduced computerised engraving systems to Europe. The purchase established Suregrave as the UK distributor of Dahlgren engraving systems delivering nationwide sales and service.

ISO Quality Mark
In 1990 Suregrave achieved the ISO 9002 certification. To this day we are still the industry’s ONLY UK manufacturer to have their production processes regulated by this standard.

Acquisition of Dahlgren
Dahlgren Control Systems of San Francisco invented the computerised engraving machine. Machines were initially produced in the US, but manufacture was later moved to the UK to further develop the range.

Suregrave Manufactures Flexible Laminate
The Suregrave line of engraving materials, manufactured in house, allowed Suregrave customers to purchase special colour combinations not available elsewhere.

Acquisition of Cipher Systems - SureLab OEM
Cipher machines were the first to embrace Windows PC compatibility through EngraveLab software. This successful partnership culminated in the development of SureLab software through an OEM partnership with Cadlink technology.

Suregrave enter education market
Suregrave manufacture variants of their machines for use within education. With many schools across the UK now using Suregrave machines there’s a good chance your future employees have had experience using one.

Hi-Drive Control
In 2004, suregrave launched the first phase of their bespoke control system Hi Drive. Followed in 2006 by Hi Drive II. The control system is now the finest of its type available and uses state of the art electronics and programming to produce faster, smoother motion at the highest possible levels of precision.

Suregrave launch RotationS machine
The Rotation S was purpose designed for engraving and personalising flat or round objects. It sets the standard for the fastest swap between flat and cylindrical modes. The mode is detected automatically - no wires to disconnect and no risk of damaging electronics.

Management acquire Suregrave
After more than 20 years in sole ownership the business was sold to a consortium of manager/directors. The acquisition brought together the experience and ideas of the management team leading to a redesign of the Suregrave machine range.

10 Year Warranty plus guaranteed part exchange value
With the expansion of the service department and the emphasis at Suregrave firmly on quality and service SureCare continues to protect our customers for up to ten years against manfacturing defects. A simple annual service keeps machines under the SureCare umberella.

Trotec Laser Limited acquired the assets of Suregrave (UK) Limited
Suregrave will gain access to the renowned range of Trotec products and continue manufacturing their extensive range of engravable materials and the leading brand Suregrave mechanical engraving machines.
