A Suregrave engraving system or Co2 Laser engraver are ideal for engraving labels and rating plates.

Labels can be quickly and easily produced in materials including aluminium, carbon fibre, plastic and stainless steel. Depending upon the application and material a rotary cutter, diamond marking tool or laser can be utilised.

Typically where the label or rating plate is exposed to the environment a rotary cutter is used to make a deep impression which can be easily read if dirt and grime are wiped off, applications requiring bar codes are often more practical using laser systems.

Labels and Rating Plates

SureLab software makes fast work of simple or complex layouts, the built-in “auto-layout” function automatically calculates the letter height depending upon the size of the label and the number of lines of text.

Labels can be quickly produced without spelling error by importing text files from your customers saving valuable set up time and making foreign language labels easy to produce.

Both rotary engraver and laser can be set up to “engrave and cut” saving valuable time and producing perfectly sized labels.

Machine
The most popular machines for this application are the Wizzard 6 for low volumes, the Wizzard 12 for mid volume and the 2516i or 4824i for high production.

If a laser system is recommended for your application the work area will be determined by volume.

Workshop equipment
A busy label manufacturer will want to be self sufficient and maximise profits so a Varga saw is recommended to cut full sheets to size. Given the varied materials and sizes of facials, panels and labels a cutter grinder enables tools to be quickly sharpened in-house.
