How to Engrave Wood

Mechanical Engravers
Any machine from the Suregrave line will produce deep engraving in wood. Generally all but the hardest woods can be engraved to depth in a single cut. Using the tool path module you can produce V-Carved or flat, deep engraved effects. If designated SureLab will create several passes at incremental depths which will aid cutter life and help with extraction. The machine profile should be set at "High Speed". The cutters should be ground as if for general use unless you require a V carved effect when V routing bits should be specified.

The 2516i and 4824i can be fitted with an optional 500 watt router motor.

For high volumes or 30% increase in productivity we recommend the optional High Frequency Spindle and a Mist Lubrication System to increase cutter life. A Cutter Grinder is useful for cutter sharpening and self-sufficiency.

If swarf extraction is used care should be taken to ensure it doesn't become blocked by the wood chippings.
