Mechanical Engravers
Engravers Brass has a high "free cutting" nickel content so it's possible to engrave to colour fill depth in a single pass. Select the nose cone profile and set to high speed to utilise nose-cone depth control engraving through the protective coating. You should use the "VEM swarf boot" to extract the swarf so the coating doesn't "lift" and damage occur to the polished surface.

The professional method is to select the "Absolute" profile, set to "high speed" to use incremental depth control. Protruding the cutter through the "VEM swarf boot" by 1 mm more than the depth of cut allows removal of much swarf during the engraving cycle. Using this method ensures the nose cone never touches and damages the work. Cutters should be ground for general use, there is no requirement to use cutting fluid used to maximise quality.

Featuring electronic surface setting for diamond or nose cone engraving the Suregrave machines are simple to set up, in addition machines from The Wizzard 12 upwards can make use of an electronic surface setting block with the benefit it can bridge the gap over previously engraved tool paths allowing tools to be changed mid cycle without risk of changing the depth over the remainder of the job.

For high volumes or 30% increase in productivity we recommend the optional High Frequency Spindle. A Cutter Grinder is useful for cutter sharpening and self-sufficiency, however cutter life is long when working with engraver's brass.

Co2 Lasers
A Co2 laser is ideal for removing an organic coating from the surface of brass such as paint however to produce a dark mark on the surface and requires use of a laser marking spray and this can have a detrimental effect to the surface finish outside of the lased area.

Fiber Lasers
By contrast a
Fiber laser
will produce
a dark mark on even polished brass, with good contrast.

Dual Co2 / Fibre Lasers
Both a CO2- and fiber laser are integrated into the industry's fastest laser in it's class, the Speedy 300 Flexx. Maxximum flexxibility is ensured as the flexx marks and engraves wood, glass, metal, leather... even mixxed materials can be processed in only one step.
