The Hi-Drive II controller has a universal serial bus (USB) connection making it compatible with all modern PC’s and future proofing it against obsolesce. The USB connection is bi-directional enabling instant control of the machine with feedback of cutting speeds and spindle rpm.
Out of the box the controller is optimised for cutter and diamond engraving and when incorporated with a Suregrave engraving machine automatic cutter setting.
State of the art digital electronics are used in the controller to give it industry leading performance, compared to older Dahlgren and Cipher engraving systems (both trade names acquired by Suregrave (UK) Ltd today’s machines are up to four times faster).
The Hi-Drive controller leads the field when it comes to efficiency too, instead of unused power being wasted and dissipated as heat and noise the H-Drive controller recovers and recycles unused power much like the recovery systems fitted to formula one cars (and now finding their way into production cars).

We put as much thought into supporting their existing machines customer base as we did developing a leading edge engraving controller. Customers with Suregrave, Dahlgren of Cipher “system machines” can upgrade to a new Hi-Drive controller (or take advantage of great part exchange values).
Control is via an interface on the PC screen or by the optional radio handset (standard on 4824i and Excalibur/Gryphon 3D CAM).
The Hi-Drive controller is programmed directly from SureLab or SuperPro engraving software and an inbuilt spooler makes it possible to communicate with third part or specialist software such as ArtCAM.
The built in feature set includes optimised settings for plastic and metal engraving as well as diamond marking. These can be changed and overwritten by the operator for special applications. Programmable settings include tool speed, traverse speed, tool lift, dwell and spindle on/off.
