The awards and gift business is year round but there are intensive periods within this, at the end of leagues for awards and Christmas and other “special” days for gifts.
Typically awards and gifts come all shapes and sizes, some like trophy plates or Zippo styled lighters will require engraving “flat” and others like tankards and cups require engraving “round” the circumference and Suregrave have machine options for both.
Trophy and gift items change regularly with seasons and fashions so you’ll need to program new jobs or edit old ones, an easy process with SureLab software.
As a pioneer of computerised engraving you’d expect Suregrave to be at the forefront of technology, and as an alternative to a message engraved with a computerised font our Signature accessory
makes a gift or award truly personal, your customer can write a hand written message and you can reproduce it , re-size it, and position it on the gift or award. This as a great added value service your customers will appreciate.

The most likely method of engraving is likely to be diamond marking, this is very quick and

Materials Many awards and gifts can be engraved directly with no need to engrave and affix a plate. Volume trophy orders are better engraved using a batch production method called “badging” where the plate layout is copied and engraved many times over on a cut to size piece of trophy aluminium. The badge feature allows different text to be engraved on each plate (or part thereof).

Machine The right machine for you will be dictated by the size of the awards and gifts and whether they are flat, round, or a mix of both. The Wizzard 6 will suit business start ups especially with the option to trade in the machine for its original purchase value within 12 months against a larger Suregrave machine. The bigger Wizzard 12 & Wizzard 16 offer increased speed and production on flat items but the flagship machine for this market is the Rotation S providing the most economical footprint vs. engraving areas and the fastest swap between flat and round modes of any machine. Volume suppliers of awards and gifts may choose either the 2516i or 4824i system machines due to high productivity and expansive work area.
A laser engraver is also an option, especially useful for it’s ability to reproduce photographic images, detailed text and highly polished light reflecting cut edges on acrylic. A Co2 laser will not mark pewter or precious metals so it is best considered in conjunction with a rotary engraver.

Machine Options We recommend a diamond marking tool or Suregrave feathertouch for pewter. |

Workshop equipment To take advantage of the badge function for volume you will require an 18” Guillotine to cut the engraved plates out of the full sheet.
Software Surelab Lite will provide the basics for text import and engrave but signmakers wanting to Scan and Vectorise logos or produce Braille signs should choose SureLab Pro. SureLab is also available in a laser output only module SureLab PhotoLaser + which includes a host of special features for laser technology. The Signature tablet will reproduce a handwritten note making any gift or award truly personal.
